About The Position

AMD is seeking a Staff Systems Design Engineer to contribute to the development and validation of AMD products, including EPYC and AMD Instinct products. The role focuses on post-silicon validation, triage, and debug, applying hardware and firmware systems engineering expertise to product development and root-cause resolution. The engineer will drive balanced, scalable, and automated solutions and contribute to technical innovation and continuous improvement across validation.

Requirements

• Several years of experience in post-silicon validation roles involving debugging operating system, firmware, silicon, SoC, or platform hardware issues.
• Extensive knowledge of system architecture, technical debug, and validation strategy.
• Programming or scripting skills, such as C/C++, Perl, Ruby, or Python.
• Extensive experience with common lab equipment, including protocol or logic analyzers and oscilloscopes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and pronounced attention to detail.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, and drive tasks to completion.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical or computer engineering.

Responsibilities

• Drive technical innovation across validation, including tool and script development, improvements to technical and procedural methodologies, and internal and cross-functional initiatives.
• Debug issues found during SOC program process, bring-up, validation, and production phases.
• Work with multiple teams to develop test plans and execute them to ensure features are validated and optimized on time.
• Work closely with supporting technical teams.
• Engage in other software and hardware modeling frameworks.
• Lead complex debug efforts for silicon findings to identify root cause and resolution.
• Support post-silicon validation activities for EPYC and AMD Instinct products, including triage and debug.
