Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. This position involves providing outstanding front-line customer service to create a positive first and last impression for patients, families, and visitors using the Valet Service at any valet entrance. The role requires extraordinary professionalism and tact when interacting with customers, especially during stressful and busy times. Valets must exert self-confidence, remain in control amidst distractions, and demonstrate empathy and a caring attitude towards customers under stress. The job involves working outdoors in various environmental conditions and walking up to eight miles a day at a steady pace. Responsibilities include assisting patients, families, and other customers by meeting and greeting them, parking their vehicles, providing directions, assisting individuals using handicapped areas, and offering other reasonable services. Valets are also responsible for the general upkeep of valet entrances, both inside and outside. When customers are ready to leave, the valet will retrieve their vehicle and return it. Additionally, valets are expected to assist healthcare staff when discharging patients, which may include opening vehicle doors and loading personal belongings into vehicles. The role demands the ability to problem-solve and provide excellent customer service, operate all types of motor vehicles (manual or automatic transmissions), and create a favorable image of the Sanford campus through a warm and caring attitude. Good communication skills are essential for effective, tactful, and courteous interactions with all guests. Valets should be perceptive to the needs of patients, visitors, and family members, seeking appropriate resources when needed. A positive attitude, the ability to learn quickly, adapt easily to change, and possess good problem-solving, judgment, and critical thinking skills are crucial. If unable to answer a customer's question, valets are expected to use available resources to find the answer. In some cases, employees may be required to transport non-emergent patients and visitors within a one-mile radius of the originating medical care facility.
