About The Position

Arc is on a mission to electrify the marine industry by rethinking powertrains, software, and vessel designs. The company has proven its technology and is scaling production, extending its platform to commercial applications with signed contracts and a strong pipeline. The marine industry is transitioning to electric power, and Arc is building the platform to lead this change. The UX/UI Designer will be responsible for the entire digital product experience, including the mobile app for owners, touchscreens on Arc vessels, and the marketing website. This role requires a self-starter capable of high-level UX strategy and detailed UI execution, working closely with engineers, product managers, and the marketing team to create elegant, intuitive interfaces for complex systems like boat controls, tugboat subsystems, and fleet management.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in UX/UI design, ideally for complex digital products in the software-defined hardware world (Mobile, Web, or Embedded systems)
  • Demonstrated ability to function as a Product Designer who understands business logic and engineering trade-offs.
  • A proven track record of setting product vision through design, with concrete examples of taking qualitative and quantitative research and synthesizing it into design solutions.
  • Fluency across the modern design toolchain ( Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.), and experience using AI tools as a force multiplier and creative engine.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to receive and apply feedback.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to grow teams, mentor designers, and build design organizations. This role has potential to grow beyond its IC origins.
  • Experience working with premium consumer, technology, or automotive brands
  • Knowledge of front-end development basics (HTML/CSS/JavaScript) for better design-engineering collaboration

Responsibilities

  • Leading the end-to-end design process across all platforms: wireframes, prototypes, and final UI assets ready for engineering handoff
  • Designing best-in-class interfaces for recreational boat control, commercial vessel subsystems, and customer service experiences, spanning both Arc Sport (consumer) and Tug/Ferry (commercial)
  • Designing a compelling website that represents Arc’s premium brand
  • Building and maintaining a design system and style guide that scales cleanly across consumer and commercial products
  • Partnering with product and engineering to define requirements, build prototypes, and iterate based on technical constraints and user feedback
  • Running user research and usability testing
  • Iterating fast, whether you’re in Figma or on a boat
