About The Position

The Senior UX/UI Designer works within multidisciplinary teams (engineering, science, product and project management, etc.) and contributes to the design of solutions integrating artificial intelligence in complex and sometimes critical environments, for both exploratory innovation projects and large-scale projects aimed at integrating new features into new or existing Thales products. This person plays a key role in simplifying complexity by using structured approaches (e.g., user research, modeling, experience mapping) to guide decisions towards high-value solutions. Responsible for the entire UX/UI process, the person designs products aligned with user needs and business objectives, while applying best practices related to AI design. He/she designs human-AI interactions adapted to the usage context, which are clear, effective, and aligned with ethical principles and Thales standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in UX/UI design, interaction design, ergonomics/human factors, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in UX/UI design, interaction design, or ergonomics.
  • Excellent command of UX/UI and facilitation methods.
  • Experience with complex systems and projects (e.g., critical systems for business experts).
  • Excellent command of spoken and written French and English.
  • Demonstrate initiative and autonomy, particularly in exploring new topics and understanding complex systems.
  • Excellent collaboration and teamwork skills.
  • High capacity for empathy, kindness, and open-mindedness.
  • Ability to exercise collaborative, confident, and flexible leadership, fostering listening, openness, and team mobilization.

  • Eligibility for or ability to obtain authorization for direct or indirect access to controlled hardware, software, or technical information under the Canadian Export Control List, Canadian Controlled Goods Program, Canadian Industrial Security Program, US International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), or US Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
  • Eligibility for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program and ability to obtain a Canadian Reliability Status security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in designing products or experiences integrating artificial intelligence.
  • Experience using artificial intelligence in the UX/UI design process (e.g., research analysis, interface design, etc.).
  • Experience in design for military, aeronautical, and/or aerospace projects.
  • Experience in CX (Customer Experience) and service design.

Responsibilities

  • Clarify complex issues, translating technical, organizational, scientific, and business challenges into clear, value-driven requirements.
  • Plan the UX/UI approach, defining strategies and design deliverables in collaboration with the project team.
  • Conduct user research activities (interviews, observations, tests, data analysis, etc.) to identify requirements based on real needs, pain points, and opportunities.
  • Define user-centered product visions, aligning business objectives, technological constraints, and user expectations.
  • Design experiences and interfaces (wireframes, prototypes, mockups), ensuring consistency, quality, and feasibility, and supporting development teams.
  • Design and facilitate workshops as needed for projects and the organization (e.g., co-creation, vision workshops, etc.).
  • Support project teams in developing an understanding of design to collaboratively create solutions aligned with user and client needs.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders, fostering clear, structured, and influential communication, both internally and with clients.
  • Contribute to defining product priorities, emphasizing user value to guide decisions and development.
  • Integrate into Agile practices, actively participating in various meetings (grooming, sprint planning, daily stand-up, review, retrospective).
