We’re looking for a UX Designer with an unwavering passion for designing meaningful, easy-to-use applications. Most of the work we do is on large-scale, enterprise-wide systems (both commercial and government)—this project in particular will help ensure the uninterrupted, secure, and compliant operation of critical federal acquisition and assistance systems. At Flexion (an agile software company that’s been delivering excellence for over 25 years), our company culture is built on autonomy, trust, and transparency. We empower teams to remain self-sufficient and self-directed by hiring people who can solve complex problems through collaboration—this means lending a hand and flexing your multi-skilled muscles ([adjacent skills for role], etc.) as needed. Every member of a cross-functional team is a leader who takes responsibility for the entire team’s success, mirroring the company’s overall low-bureaucracy structure. We believe that growth comes from working together—and that includes supporting each other through thoughtful, constructive feedback. Flexion team members are expected to help each other grow, challenge ideas respectfully, and integrate feedback as a normal part of the workday. As a member of a cross-functional agile development team, you’ll partner with our clients to tackle holistic issues. You’ll facilitate tough conversations about what clients (and their users!) really need, which isn’t always what they want. You’ll work to build UX thinking into everything the team does. Specifically, you’ll: Lead UX and design activities on client projects, which could involve collaborating with designers from other consulting firms Iteratively evolve strategy and guidance to help clients solve their thorniest business problems Facilitate continuous discovery with customers to not only identify opportunities but to consistently evaluate solutions as the team’s understanding of the problem space evolves Facilitate design workshops Advocate for the users in the context of business needs/goals Effectively communicate goals, designs, research, feedback, ideas, and requirements (both verbally and visually, when needed) to the team and client Lead and participate in UX design work—on any given project you might be leading the charge on activities involving content audits, heuristic reviews, user research, data modeling, user journeys, card sorting, personas, workflows, requirements, information architecture, sketching, mockups, prototypes, design patterns, microcopy, interaction design, usability testing, and whatever else is thrown your way Analyze and provide feedback on proposed technical solutions that affect the interface design or user experience Pair or mob with other members of a cross-functional development team Coach other team members on basic HCD knowledge that all developers should have Prototype, test, and iterate on designs Drive and analyze client and user feedback to identify opportunities to improve the overall user experience throughout the design process and product lifecycle Follow lean and agile methodologies to deliver a quality product with minimal churn
