About The Position

Centurion Health is seeking a full-time physician to serve as the Specialty Care Reviewing Provider at Reception and Medical Center in Lake Butler, Florida. The provider reviews specialty consults and prior approvals written for the facility’s Main, Hospital, and West units under the direction of the Regional Medical Director. They receive recommendations from specialty providers and make timely clinical decisions about follow-up care, diagnostics, and imaging based on clinical need and Florida Department of Corrections policy. The provider approves consults and prior approvals or provides alternative treatment plans for onsite medical providers. The role requires prioritizing cases by acuity and working with the Regional Medical Director, onsite providers, and work-from-home Consult Coordinators. The position is onsite Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Requirements

• Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school.
• Board certification or eligibility in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine.
• Active Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration with prescriptive authority, or ability to obtain it.
• Ability to pass credentialing and a background check.

Responsibilities

• Review specialty consults and prior approvals for the Main, Hospital, and West units under the Regional Medical Director’s direction.
• Review specialty-provider recommendations in a timely manner.
• Determine clinically appropriate follow-up care, diagnostics, and imaging based on clinical need and Florida Department of Corrections policy.
• Approve consults and prior approvals or provide alternative treatment plans for onsite medical providers.
• Prioritize cases by acuity level: routine, urgent, or emergent.
• Work with the Regional Medical Director and onsite providers to provide treatment education and advice.
• Coordinate with work-from-home Consult Coordinators to ensure consults and prior approvals are complete and accurate before submission.
