The Utility position helps keep production flowing smoothly in and out of all departments. It requires attention to detail, a strong understanding of system flow, and a commitment to producing quality work. The role includes operating a hem saw and drill-and-tap machines, handling and organizing raw materials, moving products and materials with a fork truck, and monitoring oil, coolant, and waste barrels. The Utility worker also performs general shop duties and follows established procedures, company policies, and health and safety regulations. At the beginning of the day, the Utility worker determines task priorities for each area. At the end of the day, they turn off all equipment, including fans, and sweep and tidy their work area. This is a temp-to-hire opportunity: while employed through SDMS, the employee receives SDMS benefits; upon hire by the client, they transition immediately to the client’s benefits package, with no additional waiting period after hire.
