About The Position

The Utility Worker is responsible for relocating furniture and equipment within and between campus locations. Supports all event requirements. Provides relief coverage for custodial schedules as required. Picks up trash and recyclables from designated locations and removes it to appropriate processing sites. Notifies supervisor of equipment or vehicles needing repair or replacement. Operates motor vehicles as required and operates forklift and high lift (Genie). Provides assistance to other department group members, as needed in the completion of work tasks; coordinates moves and event support; participates in snow removal activities to maintain campus operations. Support office and Residence halls as needed, with furniture replacement moves. Performs project work, such as stripping floors, carpet shampooing, operating auto scrubbers on floors and delivering supplies to locations on campus. Assumes additional responsibilities as required.

Requirements

  • Must possess or obtain a 1C Hoisting operator’s license; will attend safety training as required by management
  • Minimum of three years of custodial experience.
  • Must be able to follow written instructions and diagrams
  • Must have the ability to function well in a team/community environment, displaying common courtesies and politeness.
  • Valid unrestricted U.S. Driver’s License, with an insurable driving history as determined by Babson’s insurance carrier; must successfully complete and pass the Babson College vehicle training program within the first 30-60 days of employment.
