About The Position

The Utility Worker position at BRTA involves performing basic maintenance, repairs, and cleaning of vehicles and facilities. This role requires the ability to work independently, handle physical demands, and maintain a safe and clean work environment in compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations. The position also plays a crucial role in ensuring vehicle readiness for service and documenting any fleet damage.

Requirements

Must be over 21 years of age.
High School diploma or equivalent.
Must have CDL or be able to obtain one within 90 days of employment.
Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted.
Able to work without direct supervision.
Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Ability to walk and stand for extended periods during shift.
Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.

Prior transit utility experience desired.

Responsibilities

Fuel all vehicles and top off fluids, ensuring they are ready for service.
Clean vehicle interiors according to contract specifications.
Ensure vehicle emergency equipment (fire extinguisher, body-fluid kit, first aid kit) is fully stocked and functional.
Park vehicles according to the facility parking plan.
Document and communicate any fleet damage to the manager.
Maintain and clean the fuel island, immediately containing and reporting any spills.
Maintain the work area according to all OSHA and EPA regulations.
Clean, mop, and dispose of trash in the shop area daily.
Perform landscaping and lot cleaning as needed.
Post notices in vehicles as required by the client.
Assist maintenance staff and manager as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Ensure the Road Traffic Safety Management System (RTSMS) conforms to requirements.
Ensure RTSMS processes deliver intended outputs.
Report RTSMS performance, improvement opportunities, and needs for change or innovation to management.
Promote customer focus throughout the organization.
Maintain the integrity of the RTSMS when changes are planned and implemented.
