The City of O'Fallon, MO is looking to hire a full time Utility Worker for the Water Main Replacement Crew. This position involves participating in the work of the crew that is responsible for the replacement of water mains in the City's water distribution system. Requirements

  • Knowledge of the maintenance and repair of water distribution systems.
  • Knowledge of the operation and preventative maintenance of a variety of equipment.
  • Knowledge of small engine repair and maintenance.
  • The ability to stand for extended periods of time, lift objects, climb ladders, use tools and equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity.
  • The ability to perform work in an environment where temperatures can vary based on weather conditions.
  • The ability to learn and follow all departmental and city policies and procedures, including safety rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Participating in water distribution maintenance and repair activities, specifically water mains.
  • Assisting with repairs to plumbing, process equipment and electrical system.
  • Operating a variety of machinery and heavy equipment such as skid steer, wheel loader and backhoe.
  • Repairs streets, driveways and yards following maintenance operations.
  • Monitors inventory of parts, supplies and chemicals.
  • Communicates with co-workers on processes and job activities.
  • Maintaining assigned tools and equipment.
  • Responding to emergency situations.
  • Assisting other city crews as needed.
