About The Position

The Utility Technician I performs general labor activities to support work at job sites, including maintaining water, wastewater, and drainage facilities; conducting scheduled inspections; performing grounds maintenance; maintaining supplies; and cleaning office areas. The role requires willingness to work all shifts, including weekends, holidays, evenings, and 24-hour emergency on-call assignments. Employees may also be assigned other duties as required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record.
• Ability to follow manuals and operating instructions.
• Knowledge of process control techniques, maintenance procedures, and safety practices.
• Ability to perform routine maintenance and repairs.
• Ability to use required tools, including a jackhammer and demolishing saw.
• Comfort working in and around water and raw sewage.
• Communicates clearly and professionally, contributes to a positive customer experience, helps others, and maintains composure in challenging situations.
• Pays attention to detail, identifies and solves problems, escalates issues appropriately, and checks work for quality.
• Works well under supervision, completes projects, follows company policies and SOPs, and manages multiple tasks.
• Demonstrates a positive attitude, acts in accordance with company vision, mission, and values, takes accountability for performance, and is willing to take on additional assignments.
• Frequently lifts 50–80 pounds; loads, unloads, and moves large equipment and tools; accesses confined spaces; and continuously walks and climbs stairs and ladders.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain items on water, wastewater, and drainage facilities.
• Perform scheduled inspections.
• Perform lawn and gardening maintenance and repair.
• Shovel dirt and gravel.
• Maintain inventory of parts and maintenance supplies.
• Clean office areas, including vacuuming, sweeping, collecting trash, and cleaning bathrooms and kitchens.
• Work all shifts, including weekends, holidays, evenings, and 24-hour emergency on-call assignments.
• Perform other duties as required.
