About The Position

This position is responsible for assisting in the reading of water utility meters and minor maintenance of them, as well as disconnecting and reconnection of water accounts. The role involves operating a vehicle along an assigned route to read and record water usage data using an AMI cellular system or manually. Responsibilities include locating malfunctioning meters, troubleshooting and making minor repairs, replacing and repairing meter lids and boxes, and changing out endpoints/antennas and meters. The position also entails installing water meters for existing accounts where meters have been pulled, turning off and locking meters for nonpayment and reconnecting them once paid, and connecting water service for new customers. Additionally, the role involves re-reading and quality control of meters as assigned, rechecking and visiting with customers and contractors regarding meter issues and high bills, collecting meter data using a cell phone or tablet, maintaining the assigned vehicle and equipment, issuing door tags and messages from Customer Service to customers, and performing other related duties.

Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

Responsibilities

Issues door tags and messages from Customer Service to customers.
Performs other related duties.
