About The Position

This position provides support to the facility in various roles. The Utility Packaging EM is responsible for performing various jobs within the warehouse or on the grounds as assigned. Responsibilities can include pallet sorting, restacking, identifying product that does not meet customer specifications, rework, and sanitation. The role also involves participating as a member of the Team, fostering cohesiveness, and supporting team concepts, programs, and policies. Team members are expected to attend meetings, identify areas lacking cohesiveness, and work with the team leader to resolve issues and achieve synergy. Familiarity with Simmons' operating systems (quality, security, office environment, company policies) is required, along with understanding the impact of individual actions on these systems and communicating concerns or improvement ideas. This position description is intended to guide activities and is not exhaustive; other duties may be required to support business objectives.

Requirements

  • Must be able to work in a busy, noisy, dusty environment with temperature extremes, work on feet for entire shift and be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Safety glasses, ear plugs, steel toed shoes, any as needed or required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain company issued forklift certification.
  • Basic math skills, reading, writing, computer knowledge and will need to have good communication skills in English.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous forklift experience preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs various jobs within the warehouse or on the grounds as assigned.
  • Responsibilities around the facility can include pallet sorting, restacking, identify product that does not meet customer specifications and rework and sanitation.
  • Participates as a member of the Team.
  • Fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc.
  • Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
  • Is familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
  • Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
