About The Position

To support the Production or Packaging portion of the Pet Food business. This role involves filling in for employees during breaks and absences while maintaining plant operation quality. The Utility Operator will operate necessary equipment, record production data, ensure areas are cleaned to standard, and perform weekly sanitation. This position is a member of a team and is expected to participate in ongoing development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies, coordinating work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members. The role also requires familiarity with Simmons’ operating systems and the responsibility to maintain that familiarity, understanding the impact of individual actions and communicating concerns or improvement ideas. Requirements

Must be able to read, write and understand English.
Communication skills & decision quality - Must have the ability to make good decisions and communicate effectively with others and leadership team.
A highly responsive ability to react to daily production priorities in a calm and focused manner.
Background in manufacturing.
Safety glasses, steel toed shoes, Ear Plugs, Hair Net.

Nice To Haves

May be required to obtain and maintain company issued forklift license.

Responsibilities

Fills in for employees during breaks and any type of absence while maintaining the continuing quality of the plant operation.
Fully operates all necessary equipment in the assigned area.
Record downtime, can loss, lot #’s, record temperature, and any other report documentation.
Ensures all areas are cleaned to standard.
Performs weekly sanitation.
Participates as a member of the Team.
Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members.
Attends appropriate team meetings.
Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
Is familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
