About The Position

This position helps make gospel teachings, resources, or services accessible to all in a simple and affordable way, supporting the mission of the Church. The incumbent operates machinery and basic cutting tools for synthetic and cotton goods. The incumbent has a good knowledge of the different styles of garments and the pattern pieces that are included in each. Works closely with the supervisor in overseeing all functions of the garment packing. This position is for Swing Shift, which follows the following schedule: Monday - Thursday 2:30 PM - 11:45 PM Friday 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Please do not apply if this shift does not work for your schedule.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Basic math
• Must be capable of standing and walking for extended periods of time
• Must be able to walk, stand, and bend for long periods of time and frequently lift up to 30-50 lbs. alone or occasionally up to 100 lbs with assistance.

Nice To Haves

• Experience using power cutting tools preferred
• Prefer experience working in a fast paced production environment

Responsibilities

• Responsible for several thousand dollars worth of material on each spread.
• Great detail must be taken to ensure that binding is cut out accurately.
• Cutting orders are completed as soon as possible.
• Most of the work is conducted while standing, stooping and walking.
• Cutting operators are subject to changing patterns and fabric shortages. These problems disrupt the work flow.
• Where there are more or less garments that there should be, the incumbent adds or takes from working stock to ensure proper count.
• When the incumbent finds errors in bagging, he/she works with other operators and/or supervisors to resolve them.
• Performs preparatory work for material and supplies for sewing production.
