About The Position

Northern Lights Locating & Inspection, Inc. is hiring an experienced Utility Locator to locate and document underground utilities in compliance with 811 dig laws. The role involves working independently in an assigned territory, communicating with excavators, property owners, and team members, and participating in an on-call rotation. The company operates 24/7/365 and performs utility locating, inspection, and sewer imaging projects nationwide. The position is full-time, employee status, and pays $20.00–$30.00 per hour. Requirements

• At least 2 years of utility locating experience is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of 811 laws and best locate practices.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to pass a drug screen.
• Willingness to work overtime and flexible schedules.
• Willingness to work in all weather conditions.
• Maintain a tobacco-free company vehicle.
• Consistent attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to work independently and without supervision.
• Accuracy, safety, and effective communication.

Responsibilities

• Locate underground utilities in compliance with all 811 dig laws.
• Read and interpret utility maps, as-built drawings, and GIS data.
• Use electronic locating equipment and multiple locating methods.
• Accurately mark utilities using paint and flags.
• Document work using a mobile app, including photos and reports.
• Investigate and document excavation-related utility damages.
• Participate in an on-call rotation.
• Maintain company equipment and vehicles.
• Communicate effectively with excavators, property owners, and team members.
