About The Position

Northern Lights Locating & Inspection, Inc. is hiring an experienced Utility Locator for its Lake City, Florida location. The company has protected underground utility infrastructure since 2001 and performs nationwide utility locating, inspection, and sewer imaging projects. This is a full-time employee position for an independent, self-motivated professional who values accurate, safe work and can operate without close supervision. The role may involve travel and participation in an on-call rotation.

The Utility Locator locates underground utilities in compliance with 811 laws, interprets utility records and GIS information, uses electronic locating equipment and multiple locating methods, and marks utilities with paint and flags. The role also includes recording work in a mobile app, investigating and documenting excavation-related utility damages, communicating with excavators, property owners, and team members, and maintaining company vehicles and equipment. The position requires working in all weather conditions, with overtime and flexible schedules as needed.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of utility locating experience.
• Strong knowledge of 811 laws and best locate practices.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to pass a drug screen.
• Willingness to work overtime and flexible schedules.
• Willingness to work in all weather conditions.
• Ability to work independently without close supervision.
• Ability to maintain a tobacco-free company vehicle.
• Consistent attendance and punctuality.

Responsibilities
