About The Position

ELM Utility Services is hiring a Utility Locate Technician in the New Florence, Missouri area. Technicians help protect underground gas, electric, and communication systems by accurately marking utilities before excavation. The role involves working independently outdoors from a company-provided vehicle, completing a daily route of locate requests, and using ELM’s LaunchPoint software and mobile work system to receive and complete tasks. Starting wages are $23.00–$30.00 per hour, depending on experience.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug, motor vehicle record, and background checks.
• Ability to distinguish colors and read and understand written and verbal communication and instructions in English.
• Must comply with Federal Department of Transportation regulations for this safety-sensitive DOT position; marijuana use is prohibited.

Responsibilities

• Complete a daily route of utility locate requests while working independently outdoors from a company-provided vehicle.
• Accurately, safely, and efficiently locate and mark underground utilities using marking paint, flags, and sometimes whiskers.
• Use the mobile work system to receive daily tasks.
• Participate in an on-call rotation and work overtime as needed, including nights and weekends when necessary.
