About The Position

ELM Utility Services is hiring a Utility Locate Technician in the Clarkson Valley, Missouri area. Technicians help ensure gas, electric, and communication systems remain dependable and well-maintained by accurately marking underground utilities to prevent damage during excavation. The role involves working independently outdoors from a company-provided vehicle, which serves as a mobile office, and completing a daily route of locate requests. Technicians use the LaunchPoint software system and a mobile work system to receive tasks.

Starting pay is $23.00–$30.00 per hour, depending on experience. A company vehicle, fuel card, and cell phone are provided for the technician to take home. This is a safety-sensitive DOT position subject to applicable Federal Department of Transportation regulations. Marijuana use, whether medical or recreational, is prohibited.

Requirements

• Pass a pre-employment drug test, Motor Vehicle Record check, and background check.
• Comply with Federal Department of Transportation regulations for a safety-sensitive DOT position; marijuana use is prohibited.
• Have a high school diploma or GED.
• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Have a valid driver’s license.
• Be able to distinguish colors and read and understand written and verbal communication and instructions in English.

Responsibilities

• Work independently outdoors from a company-provided vehicle and complete a daily route of utility locate requests.
• Accurately, safely, and efficiently locate and mark underground utilities using marking paint, flags, and sometimes whiskers.
• Use the mobile work system to receive daily tasks.
• Participate in an on-call rotation and work overtime as needed, including nights and weekends when necessary.
