About The Position

ELM Utility Services is hiring a Utility Locate Technician in the Ballwin, Missouri area. Technicians help keep gas, electric, and communication systems dependable by marking underground utilities to prevent damage during excavation. The role uses ELM’s LaunchPoint software and a mobile work system. Technicians work independently outdoors, using a company-provided vehicle as a mobile office and traveling directly from home to their first job site.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, Motor Vehicle Record check, and background check.
• Ability to distinguish colors and read and understand written and verbal communication and instructions in English.
• Must comply with Federal Department of Transportation regulations for this Safety-Sensitive DOT position; marijuana use is prohibited.

Responsibilities

• Complete a daily route of utility locate requests independently and outdoors.
• Accurately, safely, and efficiently locate and mark underground utilities using marking paint, flags, and sometimes whiskers.
• Use the mobile work system to receive daily tasks.
• Work an on-call rotation and overtime as needed, including nights and weekends when necessary.
