Utility Kitchen Worker
About The Position
The Utility Kitchen Worker is responsible for maintaining cleanliness standards through the operation of dishwashing equipment and sinks, polishing silverware, removing garbage, and cleaning of equipment and work areas, including the sweeping and mopping of floors. This position will also assist in general food preparation for events. Food service at the Straz includes fine dining, indoor & outdoor casual dining, catering, and meal services. Located in downtown Tampa, the Straz offers flexible hours, event-based schedules including evenings and weekends, and a team-based work environment.
Requirements
- Ability to work evenings and weekends
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
- High School diploma or equivalent
Nice To Haves
- One year dishwashing / commercial kitchen experience preferred
- Experience in a comparable facility or related field preferred
Responsibilities
- Maintaining cleanliness standards through the operation of dishwashing equipment and sinks
- Polishing silverware
- Removing garbage
- Cleaning of equipment and work areas, including the sweeping and mopping of floors
- Assisting in general food preparation for events
- Dishwashing
- Kitchen cleaning and sanitation
- Food handling and storage
- Recognizing quality standards in fresh vegetables, fish, dairy, and meats
- Being attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous to all guests, managers, and fellow employees
- Coordinating with Kitchen Supervisor, Sous Chef, and/or Executive Chef for banquet functions and special orders
- Obtaining all supplies and equipment to perform duties
- Performing other duties as requested by management
