About The Position

The Utility Engineer (Mechanical) supports utility systems through engineering, construction, commissioning, startup, and stable plant operation with guidance. The role works across HPLS functions and external partners to deliver safe, compliant, timely, and sustainable results during project execution and ongoing operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Environmental, Chemical, Controls Engineering, or a related field.
  • No prior full-time experience required; relevant internship, co-op, academic project, military, or technical experience is valued.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage priorities, analyze information, document work, and collaborate across functions.
  • Working proficiency with Microsoft 365 and job-relevant enterprise or technical systems.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English and work effectively in a multicultural environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional working proficiency in both English and Korean is preferred.
  • Experience with industrial water, wastewater, compressed air, gases, piping, power distribution, instrumentation, controls, or treatment systems.
  • Greenfield industrial project or commissioning experience.
  • Knowledge of applicable NFPA, NEC, ISA, ASME, environmental, or utility standards.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage utility system activities throughout engineering, construction, commissioning, startup, and operation phases.
  • Review engineering designs, drawings, specifications, and technical documents to ensure compliance with project and operational needs.
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal stakeholders to support project execution, construction progress, and facility readiness.
  • Participate in field inspections, construction management, commissioning, and startup activities to ensure safe and reliable system performance.
  • Support troubleshooting, operational readiness, maintenance planning, and continuous improvement initiatives following project completion.
