The Pittsburgh office of SmithGroup is looking for a Entry Level Mechanical Engineer to join our team.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year of related experience working (including summer, co-op or intern work) in the AE field.
  • Knowledge of building code concepts and specifications.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, Trane TRACE software, CAD, and the Microsoft Office Suite (with advanced knowledge of Word and Excel).

Nice To Haves

  • LEED AP and Engineer-in-Training certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis, design and documentation of heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, plumbing systems, laboratory and process piping and controls under direct supervision.
  • Develop solutions to challenging HVAC issues with integrated architecture and engineering project design teams.
  • Contribute to SmithGroup sustainable design initiatives by using a variety of software to perform energy, heating and cooling load and computational fluid dynamic calculations.
  • Perform production for assigned engineering work and document changes to engineering drawings as instructed.
  • Assist in construction administration as directed.
  • May assist in developing proposal materials.
