About The Position

This position is an essential role within the production line, requiring adaptability and a commitment to teamwork. The Utility Crew member will perform various jobs as assigned, adapting quickly to new situations and maintaining established production levels. This role also involves assisting in the training of new employees on basic requirements, safety, job assignments, and sanitation procedures. A key aspect of this role is active participation in team development, communication, and the implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies. The Utility Crew member is expected to foster team cohesiveness, identify areas lacking cohesion, and work collaboratively to resolve issues and achieve synergy. Familiarity with Simmons' operating systems, including quality, security, and company policies, is essential, as is understanding the impact of individual actions on these systems and communicating concerns or improvement ideas. The position also includes performing other duties as necessary to support business objectives. The work environment involves extreme temperatures (below 40 degrees and above 100 degrees) and a noisy environment. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as hair nets and ear plugs will be used as required.

Requirements

  • Must be able to work in extreme temperatures (under 40 degrees-above 100 degrees).
  • Must be able to work in a noisy environment.
  • Must be able to bend.
  • Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs from floor to crown.
  • Must be able to work on feet all day.
  • Will use hair net, ear plugs, and any other protective equipment as needed or required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs various jobs on the line, adapting quickly to new positions and situations and performing in any assigned job at established production levels.
  • Assists in training of new employees on basic dress requirements, safety aspects, job assignment, and sanitation procedures and policies.
  • Participates as a member of the Team, fostering strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues and accepting responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness.
  • Familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies) and understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems.
  • Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
