About The Position

Responsible for coordinating and performing facility and substation maintenance to ensure safe, efficient operations and maintain a clean, well-kept, and reliable environment for all Cooperative assets. This is a full-time, non-exempt, hourly paid position.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of safe work practices, environmental compliance, and regulatory requirements related to utility operations.
  • Knowledge of substation equipment, facility systems, and basic maintenance procedures.
  • Knowledge of materials handling, storage, and inventory control practices.
  • Basic organizational, coordination, and time management skills to effectively manage crews, tasks, and resources.
  • Basic mechanical and maintenance skills for facilities and equipment repair.
  • Effective communication and comprehension skills, including reading, listening, writing, basic arithmetic, follow instructions, and maintain accurate records.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to learn and become proficient with Cooperative facilities, substations, and equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrating initiative while managing multiple priorities.
  • Ability to safely operate tools, equipment, and motorized vehicles and maintain a valid driver’s license in accordance with MWEC policies.
  • Ability to work outside in various weather conditions.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license that meets the company driving standards and successfully pass a motor vehicle record (MVR) check.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior knowledge or experience in the electrical power industry is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to obtain a Commercial Pesticide Applicator Certification within one year from hire date.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and direct Utility Worker crew members and daily work activities.
  • Oversee and ensure completion of substation and facility inspections, maintenance, and documentation.
  • Oversee maintenance of substation grounds, facilities, and equipment to support reliability and service life.
  • Manage and support substation vegetation management and environmental compliance programs.
  • Coordinate materials, supplies, contractors, and consultants to support operations and maintenance activities.
  • Support work related to oil-filled electrical equipment and PCB compliance.
  • Approve department timesheets and purchases.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support Cooperative objectives.
