About The Position

The Utility Clerk or Sacker supports the daily operations of the Front-End Team. The position requires attention to detail, strong customer service skills, and the ability to multitask. Duties include accurately bagging groceries, following customer requests, helping customers locate items, returning items to their proper locations, assisting customers with groceries to their vehicles, retrieving carts, and maintaining a clear, clean shopping environment. This non-exempt position formally reports to the Front-End Manager.

Requirements

Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service.
General mathematics skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Obtain a liquor license and/or food handlers permit if required by the county within the first 14 days of starting.
Ability to push and pull grocery items and carts to proper locations with peak force up to 25 lbs.
Ability to stand and walk for long periods on tile, asphalt, concrete, or other hard surfaces.
Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 30 lbs. to a height of 36 inches.
Ability to bend and squat, at times to floor level.
Ability to climb a ladder, possibly up to 5 feet.

Responsibilities

Obtain a liquor license and/or food handlers permit as required by the county within the first 14 days of starting.
Bag groceries efficiently and accurately.
Greet customers, ask about their preferences for how groceries are sacked, and offer assistance to their vehicles.
Know and practice Cosentino's Customer Service Standards or Red-Carpet Service.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including the sales floor, breakroom, check stands, and restrooms.
Retrieve carts from the parking lot and ensure they are clean and operational for customers.
Communicate effectively with team members and management.
Resolve customer inquiries or concerns, or seek help from store management when needed.
Follow Cosentino's rules regarding alcohol and tobacco sales and handling.
Multitask and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
Help prevent merchandise loss by checking the bottoms of shopping carts for cashiers.
Complete additional tasks identified by management, assist other stores or departments as needed, and gain new skills when necessary.
Complete ongoing training and development as listed on the Cosentino’s Learning Plan.
Assist customers in finding items and return items to their proper locations.
