About The Position

Under basic supervision, processes payments and invoices for City services. Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: Processes payments and invoices for City services and maintains account records; performs duties within scope of authority and training, and in compliance with City policies. Responds to billing and account questions from customers. Supports the departmental operations with regular and timely attendance. Supports the relationship between the City of Odessa and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information; performs other duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Customer service experience
  • Knowledge of principles of accounting, record keeping, and records management.
  • Knowledge of business and personal computers, and accounting software applications.
  • Skill in entering numerical data into a computer system with skill and accuracy.
  • Skill in resolving customer service problems.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with City employees.
  • Skill in communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
  • A skills test is required for this position.
  • The calculator 10-key test must be taken during business hours at the City of Odessa Human Resources Office (411 W. 8th Street) before the closing posting date 8.21.26.
  • Minimum score of 80 on the 10-key test.
