About The Position

The Utility Associate fills in for regular workers and performs all jobs in the assigned area or department as needed. The associate trains new and current workers on jobs and skills in the area, maintains a clean and sanitary workspace, and follows company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines, and applicable local, state, and federal requirements. The position involves working around production equipment and raw animal products in a wet, cold, and noisy environment.

Requirements

• Ability to perform one or more functions of the deboning process.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities.
• Ability to work unsupervised and self-motivate.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended shift hours.
• Basic math skills.
• Sound work ethic, honesty, and moral character.
• Ability to stand for up to 8 hours, lift up to 60 pounds, repeatedly lift 10 pounds, climb steps, and frequently kneel, crawl, stoop, and bend.
• Ability to work in a wet and cold environment of approximately 45°F (4°C), with exposure to noise above 85 decibels, CO2, moving production equipment, and raw live-animal odors.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Fill in independently and perform work when a regular worker is absent from the workstation.
• Distribute knives before the shift, swap them during the shift, and collect them at the end of the shift.
• Set up assigned production lines with stands and ice.
• Train or cross-train incoming and current workers on new skills as needed.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary work area around the assigned line.
• Comply with company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines, and applicable local, state, and federal policies, laws, and regulations.
• Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs, and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Perform other duties as assigned.
