About The Position

The TECO Energy Student Program offers college students the opportunity to gain real-world experience in their field of study. Students will apply classroom knowledge in a professional setting, contribute to meaningful projects, and grow their careers. The program partners with accredited four-year colleges and universities to recruit motivated students eager to learn and make an impact. Students will undertake challenging assignments aligned with their academic background and business needs, providing a head start on their future.

Requirements

Enrolled in an accredited university as a college undergraduate or a graduate level post-secondary educational program in a related discipline.
Co-Op Requirements: Enrollment in the university’s co-op program (proof of enrollment required); if not eligible for co-op program (or program unavailable), the student will be considered an intern.
A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.
Degree in Accounting or Finance.
Knowledge of MS Excel.
Knowledge of Basic Accounting (debit/credit).

Responsibilities

Executing corporate accounting activities related to Tampa Electric Company and its affiliates.
Enterprise-wide accounting with a focus in ERP accounting systems, general ledger processing and journal entry creation.
Cash clearing processes.
Specific accounting and analysis.
Supporting other financial and regulatory reporting requirements.
Preparing Journal Entries
Payment Postings
Creation of Invoices
Audit Requests
Assistance with Closeout
Ad hoc misc. requests as needed
