About The Position

The City of Bowie is seeking a Utilities Service Worker to assist with sewer cleaning and TV inspection of sewer lines, and with repairs to sewer lines and water mains. The position also assists with installing water meters, fire hydrants, and storm drains in need of repair. The work requires climbing ladders and entering and exiting sewer and storm drain manholes and meter vaults. The employee must know confined-space guidelines and be able to perform manual labor for extended periods, often in unfavorable weather conditions. Availability for overtime during water main breaks, sewer blockages, and other emergencies is required. The position pays $19.22 per hour.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Six months of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid driver's license.
• Knowledge of confined-space guidelines.
• Ability to climb ladders and enter and exit sewer and storm drain manholes and meter vaults.
• Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods, often under unfavorable weather conditions.
• Availability for overtime work during water main breaks, sewer blockages, or other emergencies.
