About The Position

The City of Seabrook is looking for a motivated Utilities Service Operator to join our Utilities Department. In this role, you'll help ensure reliable water service for our residents and businesses while supporting the maintenance and operation of the city's water and wastewater systems. This is a hands-on, outdoor position that involves exposure to all weather conditions. You may encounter noise, dust, chemicals, and other environmental elements typical of utility operations. Personal protective equipment will be provided. This position is classified as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • One to two years of experience in meter reading, field service, or customer service preferred.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License.
  • TCEQ Class C Water Operator License required.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to operate field equipment and mobile data devices.
  • Physically able to lift 50 pounds, walk on varied terrain, and work in outdoor environments.
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Read, install, replace, and maintain residential and commercial water meters; perform daily and monthly disconnects and reconnects.
  • Conduct investigations for leaks, pressure issues, or consumption concerns; inspect meters and service connections for damage or tampering.
  • Flush dead-end fire hydrants, collect water samples, and monitor chlorine and monochloramine levels to maintain water quality standards.
  • Provide courteous on-site service, answer questions, and coordinate access for inspections or repairs; assist with billing inquiries.
  • Use handheld or AMI systems to record and upload readings; maintain electronic records and report issues or hazards to your supervisor.
  • Be available for after-hours or on-call duty to assist with urgent repairs or disaster response.
