About The Position

The Utilities Project Manager is responsible for administering all project activities including planning, contract interpretation and compliance, logistical coordination (personnel, equipment, and material), budget analysis and cost control, customer and public relations, quality control, and job profitability for Brubacher. This role involves controlling multiple job sites simultaneously and providing management direction for multiple Pipe Supervisors working on water, sewer, gas, and other miscellaneous projects.

Requirements

  • High school degree or GED is required.
  • Three years experience as a Project Engineer with full responsibilities in and familiarity with an excavation/construction type of environment preferred.
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • Requires 1 year of office experience utilizing Microsoft Office.

  • Bachelor of Science in Architecture, Engineering, and/or Construction Management is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Administer all project activities including planning, contract interpretation and compliance, logistical coordination (personnel, equipment, and material), budget analysis and cost control, customer and public relations, quality control, and job profitability.
  • Control multiple job sites simultaneously.
  • Provide management direction for multiple Pipe Supervisors.
  • Promote accident prevention and assist in enforcement of safety rules and regulations.
  • Develop and maintain a logical, efficient, and integrated system of schedules, objectives, and logistics to bring assigned projects to completion on time and on or under budget.
  • Facilitate weekly project meetings with field supervision to review safety, schedule, budget, and other needs.
  • Perform underground utility, length, and area takeoff.
  • Understand blueprints and cut sheets for gravity sewer.
  • Review contracts in detail, ensuring awareness of contract requirements, specifications, and plan details.
  • Guide the field and ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions, recognizing and resolving conflicts.
  • Develop and maintain efficient project logistics, reviewing and analyzing project schedules and facilitating an evolving plan for timely and profitable completion.
  • Prepare project information book after job award.
  • Review, analyze, and maintain familiarity with project cost-plus estimates.
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of budget variances and develop strategies to maintain profitability.
  • Complete and approve all project billings.
  • Facilitate all project completion cost projections monthly.
  • Initiate, approve, and monitor all project change order activity.
  • Be aware of budget deviations, document them, and inform management of their existence along with corrective actions.
  • Act as the primary Brubacher contact on all assigned projects, establishing and maintaining an assertive role.
  • Address customer inquiries and concerns promptly, professionally, and courteously.
  • Foster and maintain positive relations with municipal and regulatory agencies.
  • Communicate with customers about their financial obligations.
  • Provide input and recommendations to management regarding public statements about projects or Brubacher.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain an ongoing program of quality control.
  • Direct and foster cooperation from field Superintendents in carrying out quality assurance procedures to minimize rework.
  • Offer input regarding personnel policies and procedures for personnel development and supervision.
  • Monitor and assist in motivating employees by working closely with Supervisors and demonstrating an exemplary attitude.
  • Work closely with management in the conduct of employee evaluations.
  • Support consistent application of company policies and expectations.
