About The Position

Styropek is the largest EPS (Expandable Polystyrene) producer in America, with certified products used in building, packaging, and automotive applications. The company has 5 manufacturing plants in 5 countries and is part of the Alpek family, the largest petrochemical group in America. This position is responsible for boiler house equipment and operation, boiler house lab and process quality testing to meet operational objectives. This includes boiler operation, treated and deionized water production, cooling tower operation, and the associated process equipment. Requirements

  • 1+ years of relevant experience
  • Certification: Ohio Stationary Engineer License
  • Education Requirement: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail
  • Experience working with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated self-motivated, self-starter
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing regarding the work process
  • Ability to read and interpret data such as written procedures and data displayed on the DCS computer screen.
  • Knowledge of ISO, Environmental Health Safety and Security, Process Safety Management and Emergency Response procedures.
  • Fully understand the function and general mechanics of equipment and associated alarms.
  • Familiar with the area’s electrical system, fire system and utility systems.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in running associated operating equipment.
  • Working knowledge of SAP system

Responsibilities

  • Make frequent rounds for process preventive maintenance, process observation, process checks and corrective action.
  • Complete safety checklists.
  • Perform operational preventative maintenance as needed (lubrication, etc.).
  • Take samples as required.
  • Perform in –process testing.
  • Change water and air filters as needed.
  • Perform inventory checks (for example, levels in feed and mix tanks).
  • Perform occasional minor maintenance that may occur during the shift.
  • May be required to help maintenance.
  • Required to assist other operators.
  • Requisition / secure parts / materials for stores area
