About The Position

Responsible for coordinating and supervising work of the refrigeration, boiler and waste water teams. This includes up two refrigeration supervisors and sixteen technicians who are responsible for all plant utilities. Utilities included ammonia refrigeration, boiler, hot water, and infeed of external electrical. The superintendent will be expected to continuously develop, and mentor Team Members using a continuous improvement mentality and will work to perpetuate a “Creekstone Proud culture through attitude and actions.

Requirements

  • Adhere to and enforce all safety policies and procedures
  • Prior supervisory experience and leadership skills in a food manufacturing environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • RETA, CIRO/CARO certifications required
  • 3-5 years of experience in pressure boilers NH3 refrigeration and instrumentation.
  • Trained in Emergency response activities, first aid, CPR, confined space, and lockout/tagout
  • Knowledge of Process Safety Management and P.N.I.D.’s
  • Experience working with a diverse group of people.
  • Ability to maintain high expectations for self and others, demonstrating a dedication to achievement of results.
  • Demonstrated ability to function successfully in a fast paced, changing work environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate throughout all levels of the organization.
  • Solid problem solving, project management, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills.
  • Detail oriented, organized, reliable and resourceful.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Beef plant experience and bilingual Spanish and English preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, engineering background or degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize and direct the work of Power/Refrigeration/Instrumentation of supervisors and technician.
  • Support Creekstone CAPEX projects and be an active member in the decision-making process of the leadership team.
  • Ensures production equipment is maintained in a manner that meets company standards and ensures minimum equipment downtime
  • Be the champion of 5S for the utility’s areas (engine room/ammonia/office area)
  • Establishes and maintains preventive maintenance programs and procedures working closely with the PSM Supervisor to achieve compliance
  • Inspects completed work for conformance to specifications and standards
  • Enforce safety, GMP and housekeeping practices
  • Balances quality, productivity, safety, and morale to achieve positive results in all areas. Works to continuously improve in all areas
  • Ensures effective employee relations. Provides employee coaching and development. Makes employment decisions. Assures that all employees follow company policies, procedures, and established work instructions
  • Oversees training/cross training of assigned staff, appraises performance and initiates discipline process
  • Accountable for ensuring that all health and safety policies and regulations are enforced, by issuing disciplinary actions. Performs accident investigations
  • Verifies labor hours and payroll report accuracy
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of ammonia compressors, condensers, receivers, plate-n-frames, quick waters, boilers, and other plant utilities
  • Responsible for the continuous improvement of preventative and corrective maintenance policies, procedures, and reporting systems
  • Perform HAZMAT team assignments as required and assist with Emergency Response Program
