About The Position

Performs laborer duties in the installation, maintenance and repair of County utility infrastructure, according to established policies, procedures, and safety protocols. Essential Job Functions Performs laborer type duties for the installation, maintenance and repair of County utility infrastructure, according to prescribed schedules. Installs, cleans and repairs water and wastewater lines, lift stations, pump stations, treatment and other facilities; performs grounds maintenance work, such as weeding, grounds cleaning, sweeping, brush and tree removal, fence installations; directs traffic as flag person. Transports contaminants to solid waste for disposal. Assists the system operators and performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor. Ensures proper care and follows safety established safety protocols in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.

Requirements

• Must have basic knowledge of hand and power tools operations commonly used on water and wastewater installation work including self-propelled sweepers, jackhammers, compressors, and water pumps and other hand tools.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Obtain and maintain forklift, CPR, First Aid and traffic control flagging certifications.
• Selected candidate must submit to and pass a County paid pre-employment physical and drug/alcohol screening.
• Selected candidate must submit to and pass a county paid criminal background screening.
• Selected candidate must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Class D Driver’s License.
• Candidate must obtain and/or maintain all certifications required.
