About The Position

The City of Sugar Land is seeking a full-time Utilities Maintenance Worker in the Customer Service division of the Utilities Department. As the Utilities Maintenance Worker, you will assist customer service utility techs in all activities involved in the maintenance, diagnostics and repair of the water distribution and wastewater collection systems. You will also assist with response to service requests as they are assigned, begin developing a basic knowledge of the water distribution and wastewater collection system, and observe and train how to conduct routine repairs to water mains and sanitary lines. This role involves developing customer service skills including customer interaction and problem solving, with heavy customer contact. You will observe and train how to complete main line valve, fire hydrant, and manhole preventive maintenance, and assist the Treasury Department with requests for service. Required to work as an essential employee before, during and after an emergency or disaster.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Valid Texas Driver License
  • National Incident Management System (NIMS) ICS-100.b, ICS-200, ICS-700.a within three months after hire date.

Nice To Haves

  • No previous water or wastewater related experience required.
