We are looking for an adaptable, self-motivated New Graduate Civil Engineering Student, Utilities, who is excellent working both individually, as well as in a team. We need you to be able to build and maintain strong relationships with both your colleagues and external clients through excellent verbal and written communication. A strong attention to detail is essential, as well as having a methodical approach to problem solving. We will expect you to draw on your university and employment experiences to manage your time effectively and to meet deadlines.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Civil Engineering co-op program
  • In good academic standing
  • Interested in civil engineering as a career
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Extracurricular involvement is considered an asset
  • Experience with municipal infrastructure and construction is an asset
  • Experience in development of project layout and civil details.
  • Familiarity with developing civil layouts, plan/profile drawings, or engineering details is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Support the utility team in identifying existing utilities through record searches and compiling findings into composite utility plan drawings.
  • Assist in performing utility conflict assessments for infrastructure projects.
  • Coordinate with utility owners and project stakeholders to communicate potential impacts and support the development of utility relocation strategies.
  • Prepare and update design drawings, figures, and technical documentation related to utility design.
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and other disciplines to produce integrated design deliverables.
  • Provide general support to Senior Engineers and Designers as required.
  • Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering task for infrastructure projects.
  • Coordination with other technicians and related disciplines to produce design deliverables.
  • Compilation of design drawings.
  • Preparing design submissions and other technical documents.
  • Assistance of Senior Engineers and Designers as and when needed.
