About The Position

The Event Host position at the Performing Arts Center plays a critical role in preparing the venue for performances and ensuring a seamless transition between events. This hands-on role is focused on setting up event spaces, placing and removing seating, breaking down and stacking chairs after events, and executing quick turnarounds so the venue is clean, organized, and fully reset for the next day’s programming. Event Hosts help maintain the professional presentation, safety, and operational readiness of the Performing Arts Center. The Usher serves as a key member of the Performing Arts Center’s front‑of‑house team, responsible for welcoming guests, assisting with seating, and ensuring a safe, orderly, and enjoyable patron experience during performances and events. Ushers act as ambassadors of the venue, providing clear directions, answering guest questions, and enforcing house policies while maintaining a professional and friendly presence throughout the event.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience as an usher or front‑of‑house staff in a theater, performing arts center, or live entertainment venue
  • Customer service or guest‑facing experience in hospitality, retail, or entertainment settings
  • Familiarity with theater etiquette and audience management

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests upon arrival and provide a warm, welcoming experience
  • Scan or check tickets and assist patrons in locating assigned seats
  • Manage audience flow before, during, and after performances
  • Monitor aisles, seating areas, and exits to ensure safety and accessibility
  • Enforce venue policies related to seating, late arrivals, photography, and behavior
  • Assist guests with mobility or accessibility needs as required
  • Remain attentive during performances to address guest concerns discreetly
  • Support post‑event egress by guiding guests safely and efficiently from the venue
  • Communicate with House Managers and event staff regarding guest issues or facility needs
  • Maintain a professional appearance and uphold venue service standards at all times
