About The Position

We are seeking a User Experience Designer with strong functional UX design capabilities, specifically for digital applications. This role fosters collaborative cross-discipline dynamics and requires experience with various UX design tools. The ideal candidate will have strong digital visual design capabilities and a passion for human-centered design, with a fascination for understanding the human experience. You will be responsible for defining, structuring, and conducting user engagement activities, planning and facilitating workshops, and synthesizing findings into actionable recommendations. You will also translate business and user requirements into design solutions, create wireframes and interactive prototypes, and partner with internal teams to define UI and craft the overall user experience. Additionally, you will assist with producing thought leadership resources and prepare production files, documentation, and specs for designers and developers. Excellent time management skills are essential for managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Requirements

  • Strong functional UX design capabilities, specifically for digital.
  • Experience using UXPin, Sketch, Figma, Axure, or similar tools.
  • Strong digital visual design capabilities.
  • Communicates and collaborates effectively with both internal teams and clients.
  • Seeks to understand user behavior and motivations using qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  • Understands principles of information architecture.
  • Builds trust with clients.
  • Has excellent time management skills.
  • 1+ years of experience as a user experience designer.
  • Strong online portfolio or samples of work demonstrating experience creating great user-centered design solutions.
  • Strong written, verbal and visual communication skills—ability to tell convincing stories that connect with people, whether end users, clients, or internal collaborators.
  • Ability to obtain a standard public trust clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Figma, Adobe XD, or Adobe CS will be considered a bonus.
  • Agency or media experience a plus.
  • Experience in B2B, government and/or healthcare a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Define, structure, and conduct a variety of user engagement activities, such as in-person ethnographic research, surveys, interviews, focus groups, card sorting, and remote and in-person usability evaluations.
  • Plan and facilitate workshops, design sprints, and other collaborative working sessions with internal and client teams.
  • Synthesize findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Present discovery findings with a strategic voice, making prioritized design recommendations.
  • Illustrate the user experience via a mastery of process flows, journey mapping, and personas.
  • Translate business and user requirements and goals into design solutions.
  • Ideate and design effective solutions, including creating wireframes and interactive prototypes.
  • Create sitemaps, taxonomies, and content types.
  • Present work effectively to clients and provide rationale for design decisions.
  • Partner with internal teams of visual designers, UX designers, front- and back-end developers to scope designs, tune existing features, help define UI, and craft the overall user experience.
  • Assist with producing thought leadership resources such as blogs, white papers, presentations, etc.
  • Prepare production files, documentation, and specs for designers and developers across disciplines.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks appropriately.
