About The Position

The Used Car Technician is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and reconditioning pre-owned vehicles to dealership and manufacturer standards. This role requires strong technical knowledge, diligence, and the ability to perform a wide variety of repair and maintenance tasks. The Used Car Technician plays a critical role in maintaining the quality and reputation of Ron Marhofer Auto Family's used car inventory.

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license meeting dealership insurability requirements.
  • Strong diagnostic and repair skills across multiple vehicle systems.
  • Ability to spot potential safety or mechanical issues during inspections.
  • Ability to complete reconditioning quickly without compromising quality.
  • Collaborates with service, sales, and parts teams to meet deadlines.
  • Understands the importance of delivering safe, reliable vehicles to guests.
  • Able to manage a wide range of makes and models.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive inspections of used vehicles to identify necessary repairs and reconditioning needs.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and cosmetic issues as required.
  • Complete multi-point inspections and ensure accurate documentation of findings.
  • Perform maintenance services including oil changes, brakes, tires, and suspension work.
  • Prepare accurate estimates of parts, labor, and time required for repairs.
  • Work with the Used Car Manager and Service Advisors to prioritize reconditioning work.
  • Ensure all repairs and reconditioning meet dealership and manufacturer standards.
  • Road-test vehicles to verify the quality of repairs performed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and safely store tools and equipment.
  • Follow all dealership, OSHA, and EPA safety guidelines when handling tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Assist in training apprentice technicians when needed.
  • Stay current with manufacturer bulletins and technical updates.
  • Support the service team with additional repair work when required.
  • Participate in dealership training programs to enhance technical knowledge.
