About The Position

The Used Car Technician is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and reconditioning pre-owned vehicles to dealership and manufacturer standards. This role requires strong technical knowledge, diligence, and the ability to perform a wide variety of repair and maintenance tasks. The Used Car Technician plays a critical role in maintaining the quality and reputation of Ron Marhofer Auto Family's used car inventory.

Requirements

Valid driver's license meeting dealership insurability requirements.
Strong diagnostic and repair skills across multiple vehicle systems.
Ability to spot potential safety or mechanical issues during inspections.
Ability to complete reconditioning quickly without compromising quality.
Collaborates with service, sales, and parts teams to meet deadlines.
Understands the importance of delivering safe, reliable vehicles to guests.
Able to manage a wide range of makes and models.

Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive inspections of used vehicles to identify necessary repairs and reconditioning needs.
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and cosmetic issues as required.
Complete multi-point inspections and ensure accurate documentation of findings.
Perform maintenance services including oil changes, brakes, tires, and suspension work.
Prepare accurate estimates of parts, labor, and time required for repairs.
Work with the Used Car Manager and Service Advisors to prioritize reconditioning work.
Ensure all repairs and reconditioning meet dealership and manufacturer standards.
Road-test vehicles to verify the quality of repairs performed.
Maintain a clean and organized work area and safely store tools and equipment.
Follow all dealership, OSHA, and EPA safety guidelines when handling tools, equipment, and materials.
Assist in training apprentice technicians when needed.
Stay current with manufacturer bulletins and technical updates.
Support the service team with additional repair work when required.
Participate in dealership training programs to enhance technical knowledge.
