About The Position

As a Senior Associate in our US State and Local Tax (SALT) practice, you’ll work alongside and learn from experienced subject matter experts through on-the-job coaching and mentoring. You will focus on delivering consulting and advisory services to clients on various US state and local tax matters including tax planning, compliance, and strategy, helping businesses optimize their tax positions and navigate complex business issues through strategy to execution. Support state tax advisory engagements such as nexus analyses, voluntary disclosures, sales tax analysis across a variety of industries, with a focus on practical, well-supported recommendations. Support US SALT due diligence on potential acquisitions and transaction-related projects such as restructuring. Use feedback and reflection to develop self-awareness, leverage personal strengths and address development areas. Proactively manage day-to-day workstreams for multiple engagements, communicating status, risks, and next steps to Managers and above. Build and maintain effective working relationships with client stakeholders through responsive communication, professionalism, and attention to detail. Coach and review the work of junior team members, contributing to a collaborative, inclusive team environment. Stay current on state and local tax developments and proactively share relevant insights with the team. Participate in business development efforts by helping identify opportunities for new/existing clients and supporting proposals. Uphold the firm's code of ethics and business conduct. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or an equivalent degree.
  • 2-3 years of prior experience in US tax.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to synthesize complex rules and facts into clear conclusions.
  • Ability to manage priorities across multiple engagements and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong technology skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and tax research tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with US state and local tax is preferred but not required.
  • US inbound (cross-border tax) experience is an asset.
  • Demonstrated interest in AI and emerging technologies is considered an asset.
  • Experience with AI-enabled tools (e.g., Copilot, Harvey or similar) is an asset.
  • Experience with OneSource tax preparation software is desirable but not required.
