About The Position

The purpose of the role is to manage operations within a business area and maintain processes, risk management initiatives, and compliance with relevant regulators. This includes identifying trends and opportunities for improvement, managing operations for a business area to promote efficient processes, risk management, and compliance initiatives. Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders is key to supporting business operations and aligning with the bank's objectives and SLAs. The role involves managing operational professionals, providing guidance and coaching, and developing KPIs to measure effectiveness. Compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal policies related to customer experience is essential. Creating a safe environment for colleagues to speak up and managing attrition through retention initiatives are also key aspects. The role ensures that investigations are conducted accurately, thoroughly, and in alignment with internal quality expectations and regulatory requirements. Key responsibilities include evaluating case summaries, ensuring written outputs are clear and well-reasoned, monitoring case ageing, and providing coaching or training to enhance team capability. The job holder will also review Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) prepared by investigators and serve as a voting member of the Barclays NY Suspicious Activity Report Review Committee (SARRC), assessing escalated investigations and approving SARs for submission to FinCEN. Additionally, the role is accountable for adherence to AML policies, internal controls, and statutory reporting requirements while maintaining effective engagement with senior internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of AML Compliance, the Bank Secrecy Act, or related areas, supported by investigative experience in financial crime matters

Responsibilities

  • Manage operations within a business area and maintain processes, risk management initiatives and compliance with relevant regulators.
  • Identify trends and opportunities to improve areas and develop new process and procedures through the monitoring and analysis of operation data and performance metrices.
  • Manage operations for a business area and promote efficient processes, risk management and compliance initiatives to support the bank's operations.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (including business leaders, project manager and SMEs) and external stakeholders (including vendors and service providers) to support business operations and promote alignment with the bank's objectives and SLAs.
  • Manage operational professionals and provide guidance, coaching and support to improve colleagues' delivery quality.
  • Manage and development of KPIs to measure the effectiveness of operation functions, utilising data and technology to support the identification of areas that require improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal policies related to customer experience.
  • Create a safe environment for colleagues to speak up, actively and regularly encourage and solicit feedback to ensure people agenda remains focused on the right areas.
  • Manage attrition by working closely with HR in implementing retention initiatives for work force.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of a team of investigators responsible for reviewing automated alerts generated by the Financial Crimes Case Management (FCCM) transaction monitoring platform.
