Urgent Care RN-Float (Per Diem)

About The Position
Under the direct supervision of the provider, the nurse assists in initiating care in the Urgent Care setting. The RN must correctly identify patients by asking their name and date of birth. Duties include intake, assessment, point-of-care testing, provider-ordered treatments, discharges, and patient education. The role assesses and treats patients in a fast-paced, high-volume urgent care setting.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Previous IV insertion and therapy skills.
- Acute care experience.

- Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN).
- Previous Urgent Care or Emergency Department experience.
Responsibilities
- Correctly identify patients by asking their name and date of birth.
- Perform patient intake and assessment, point-of-care testing, provider-ordered treatments, discharges, and patient education.
- Obtain and document current medical history, medications, and allergies in the EMR.
- Assist providers with urgent care procedures and implement orders for EKGs, dressing changes, suture removal, ear lavages, splinting, injections, IV insertion, and IV infusions.
- Maintain and stock rooms, IV carts, and other supplies as needed, and check equipment to ensure it is in proper working order.
- Return patient phone calls in a timely manner to answer general medical questions.
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Assess personal learning and developmental needs and serve as a resource for other staff and patients.
- Participate in staff meetings and other activities that promote the growth and development of nursing and patient care.
- Work cooperatively with coworkers and communicate politely with department employees, patients, and visitors.
- Perform other work duties as requested.
- Consistently provide service excellence to patients, family members, visitors, volunteers, and coworkers.
