Urgent Care Physician (MD/DO) - Troy, AL
About The Position
Stopwatch Urgent Care is hiring a full-time Urgent Care Physician for its Troy, Alabama clinic. The physician assesses, diagnoses, and treats patients with acute and episodic conditions, performs common urgent care procedures, orders and interprets in-house laboratory tests and imaging, prescribes treatment, educates patients, and completes same-day charting in Experity EMR. The physician is the clinician on shift and makes independent clinical decisions, supported by established protocols, a dedicated clinic team, and clinical leadership. Onboarding includes a structured clinical orientation. Schedules are published in advance through a self-scheduling app, and physicians may pick up extra shifts. The schedule rotates between three 12-hour shifts one week and four the next. There is no on-call work or overnight work, and weekends rotate. The clinic averages three to four patients per hour. Compensation is a competitive hourly rate based on experience and credentials, with time-and-a-half after 40 hours and productivity incentives available above base pay. Sign-on bonuses are offered case by case; relocation assistance may also be available.
Requirements
- MD or DO licensed in Alabama, or eligible for Alabama licensure.
- Board certified or board eligible in Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or Internal Medicine.
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
- DOT Medical Examiner certification, or willingness to complete it within six weeks of starting; training is provided.

- Urgent care, emergency medicine, or primary care experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose, and treat patients with acute and episodic conditions.
- Perform common urgent care procedures, including laceration repair, abscess drainage, splinting, wound care, and DOT physicals.
- Order and interpret in-house laboratory tests and imaging.
- Prescribe treatment and educate patients.
- Complete same-day charting in Experity EMR.
- Make clinical decisions as the physician on shift, using established protocols and clinical support as needed.
