About The Position

Prisma Health is hiring a fully remote Urgent Care Physician to provide clinical oversight, consultation, and support to Advanced Practice Providers (APPs). The physician will be assigned a formal South Carolina Medical Board supervising or collaborating physician relationship and will fulfill the related oversight, documentation, clinical review, delegation, and other applicable responsibilities. The physician must physically reside in South Carolina. The physician provides timely clinical consultation during assigned supervision or coverage periods, including by telephone or other approved communication methods when not physically present at a center. Clinical support includes guidance on cases requiring physician involvement, such as high-risk complaints, critical findings, abnormal vital signs, ECGs, and other situations requiring escalation. The physician reviews and cosigns APP documentation when required and provides additional case review for designated APPs during orientation or enhanced supervision periods. The role also includes participation in quality improvement and peer review activities, providing clinical feedback, escalating significant quality or patient safety concerns, and supporting APP practice within authorized scopes and applicable supervision, collaboration, delegation, and prescriptive-authority requirements. Under the team-based physician coverage model, the physician may support APPs at assigned centers and, when needed, at surrounding Prisma Health Urgent Care centers. Daily coverage responsibilities are separate from formal supervising or collaborating physician assignments and may not correspond to the same APPs. The role requires South Carolina medical licensure, board certification or eligibility, current DEA registration, procedural experience, experience interpreting diagnostic studies, and eligibility for organizational credentialing. BLS certification is required; Prisma Health will provide it if needed. Urgent care, family medicine, or emergency medicine experience is preferred. The organization seeks a service-oriented team member with strong communication and bedside manner who supports patients and colleagues and contributes to a positive, collaborative environment.
