Urgent Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Sign On Bonus
About The Position
Hartford HealthCare and GoHealth Urgent Care are operating urgent care centers across the Connecticut area. They are seeking experienced Physician Assistants or Nurse Practitioners who have urgent care, emergency room experience, or high acute family medicine experience treating both adult and pediatric patients. The role involves providing clinical services including treatment of acute episodic conditions, assessing patients, and recognizing more serious conditions to direct patients to the emergency room when necessary. Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree required for Physician Assistants
- Master's Degree required for Nurse Practitioners
- One (1) year of full-time experience in Emergency Medicine or One (1) year of Urgent Care setting experience required.
- Will consider 2 years of Family Medicine experience.
- National Certification
- Active state medical licensure
- Work experience in an Urgent Care or Emergency Room setting preferred
- Applicable office procedures including but not limited to suturing, splinting, casting etc.
- Preliminary reads on EKGs and X-rays required.
- Experience treating patients ages 6 months and up in an acute care setting required.

Responsibilities
- Provide a wide variety of clinical services including treatment of acute episodic conditions such as sore throats, colds, flu-like symptoms, cuts, sprains and minor infections.
- Functioning in lieu of or alongside of a physician, it is essential for an urgent care Advanced Practitioner to have excellent assessment skills in order to recognize more serious conditions and direct the patient to the emergency room for advanced care when necessary.
- Float between centers within 30 miles of home center.
- Examine and treat patients.
- Take patients’ medical histories.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests and X-rays.
- Make diagnoses and prescribe medications.
- Treat minor injuries that may require sutures, splints, or casting.
- Record progress notes for follow-up patients.
- Educate and counsel patients.
- Order and/or carry out therapy with patients.
- Give vaccinations, and refer patients to additional care.
- Work an anticipated twelve (12) hours per shift.
