About The Position

We are seeking experienced Physician Assistants or Nurse Practitioners who have urgent care, emergency room experience, or high acute family medicine experience treating both adult and pediatric patients, to join our welcoming and diverse community of providers in the surrounding region. Urgent care Advanced Practitioners (Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner) provide a wide variety of clinical services including treatment of acute episodic conditions such as sore throats, colds, flu-like symptoms, cuts, sprains and minor infections. Functioning in lieu of or alongside of a physician, it is essential for an urgent care Advanced Practitioner to have excellent assessment skills in order to recognize more serious conditions and direct the patient to the emergency room for advanced care when necessary. This role involves floating within 30 miles of a home center.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree for Physician Assistants
  • Master's Degree for Nurse Practitioners
  • One (1) year of full-time experience in Emergency Medicine setting experience.
  • National Certification
  • Active state medical licensure
  • Experience treating patients ages 6 months and up in an acute care setting.

Nice To Haves

  • Will consider 2 years of Family Medicine experience.
  • Work experience in an Urgent Care or Emergency Room setting.
  • Applicable office procedures including but not limited to suturing, splinting, casting etc.
  • Preliminary reads on EKGs and X-rays.
  • Knowledge and experience with Electronic Medical Records.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a wide variety of clinical services including treatment of acute episodic conditions such as sore throats, colds, flu-like symptoms, cuts, sprains and minor infections.
  • Recognize more serious conditions and direct the patient to the emergency room for advanced care when necessary.
  • Examine and treat patients.
  • Take patients’ medical histories.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests and X-rays.
  • Make diagnoses and prescribe medications.
  • Treat minor injuries that may require sutures, splints, or casting.
  • Record progress notes for follow-up patients.
  • Educate and counsel patients.
  • Order and/or carry out therapy with patients.
  • Give vaccinations, and refer patients to additional care.
  • Work an anticipated eight (8) or twelve (12) hours per shift.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
