About The Position

We are seeking experienced Physician Assistants or Nurse Practitioners who have urgent care, emergency room experience, or high acute family medicine experience treating both adult and pediatric patients, to join our welcoming and diverse community of providers in the surrounding region. This role involves providing a wide variety of clinical services including treatment of acute episodic conditions such as sore throats, colds, flu-like symptoms, cuts, sprains and minor infections. The provider will function in lieu of or alongside of a physician, and must have excellent assessment skills to recognize more serious conditions and direct the patient to the emergency room for advanced care when necessary. The position requires floating within 30 miles of the home center.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required for Physician Assistants
  • Master's Degree required for Nurse Practitioners
  • One (1) year of full-time experience in Emergency Medicine setting experience required.
  • Will consider 2 years of Family Medicine experience.
  • National Certification
  • Active state medical licensure
  • Applicable office procedures including but not limited to suturing, splinting, casting etc.
  • Preliminary reads on EKGs and X-rays required.
  • Experience treating patients ages 6 months and up in an acute care setting required.

Nice To Haves

  • Urgent care, emergency room experience, or high acute family medicine experience treating both adult and pediatric patients
  • Work experience in an Urgent Care or Emergency Room setting preferred
  • Knowledge and experience with Electronic Medical Records
  • Ability to be attentive with strong listening skills
  • Strong communication and customer service skills

Responsibilities

  • Provide a wide variety of clinical services including treatment of acute episodic conditions such as sore throats, colds, flu-like symptoms, cuts, sprains and minor infections.
  • Recognize more serious conditions and direct the patient to the emergency room for advanced care when necessary.
  • Float within 30 miles of home center.
  • Examining and treating patients
  • Taking patients’ medical histories
  • Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and X-rays
  • Making diagnoses and prescribing medications
  • Treating minor injuries that may require sutures, splints, or casting
  • Recording progress notes for follow-up patients
  • Educating and counseling patients
  • Ordering and/or carrying out therapy with patients
  • Giving vaccinations, and referring patients to additional care
  • Work an anticipated eight (8) or twelve (12) hours per shift
  • All other duties as assigned
