About The Position

Hartford HealthCare and GoHealth Urgent Care are operating urgent care centers across the Connecticut area. They are committed to placing patient needs first by providing an effortless patient experience, a welcoming culture of care, and seamless integration with market-leading health systems and communities. They are seeking experienced Physician Assistants or Nurse Practitioners with urgent care, emergency room, or high acute family medicine experience treating both adult and pediatric patients to join their team. A $13,500 sign-on bonus is offered for external candidates, along with premium pay for floating between centers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree for Physician Assistants
  • Master's Degree for Nurse Practitioners
  • One (1) year of full-time experience in Emergency Medicine or One (1) year of Urgent Care setting experience required.
  • Will consider 2 years of Family Medicine experience.
  • National Certification
  • Active state medical licensure
  • Experience treating patients ages 6 months and up in an acute care setting required.
  • Applicable office procedures including but not limited to suturing, splinting, casting etc.
  • Preliminary reads on EKGs and X-rays required.

Nice To Haves

  • Urgent care, emergency room experience, or high acute family medicine experience treating both adult and pediatric patients.
  • Work experience in an Urgent Care or Emergency Room setting preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with Electronic Medical Records.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a wide variety of clinical services including treatment of acute episodic conditions such as sore throats, colds, flu-like symptoms, cuts, sprains and minor infections.
  • Examine and treat patients.
  • Take patients’ medical histories.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests and X-rays.
  • Make diagnoses and prescribe medications.
  • Treat minor injuries that may require sutures, splints, or casting.
  • Record progress notes for follow-up patients.
  • Educate and counsel patients.
  • Order and/or carry out therapy with patients.
  • Give vaccinations, and refer patients to additional care.
  • Recognize more serious conditions and direct the patient to the emergency room for advanced care when necessary.
