About The Position

Make Your Summer Count—Build Skills, Gain Experience, Make an Impact. Looking for more than just a summer job? As an Urban Youth Summer Intern, you’ll gain hands-on experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities while exploring a meaningful career in Human Services. Through the Department of Developmental Services Urban Youth Collaborative Program, you’ll build real-world skills, connect with your community, and make a difference—all in one summer. Under the direction of the Vice President of Advancement and the Senior Digital Marketing Specialist, the Intern will support the execution of Seven Hills Foundation’s internal and external communications strategies. This role will assist in creating and delivering engaging content that informs employees and external audiences while reflecting the organization’s culture and core values. The internship will also provide exposure to event coordination and development initiatives. As part of the Urban Youth Program, the Intern will gain valuable knowledge and understanding of the human services field. This internship is your chance to step into a career that truly matters. You’ll gain hands-on experience, develop valuable life and professional skills, and build relationships that will stick with you long after summer ends. You’ll also discover what it means to support others in living full, independent, and meaningful lives—and you might just find your future career along the way.

Requirements

  • No experience required—just a strong interest in Human Services
  • Compassion, patience, and a willingness to learn
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to assist with daily living tasks and mobility support (training provided)
  • Must be 18–24 years old
  • Currently enrolled in high school, a training program, or college
  • Reliable transportation
  • Availability for the full program July through August

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support with daily living activities such as personal care, meals, and routines.
  • Help individuals engage in community outings—think parks, restaurants, libraries, concerts, and more.
  • Plan and lead fun, structured activities like arts & crafts, music, cooking, and social events.
  • Promote independence, dignity, and inclusion in everything you do.
  • Encourage social interaction and skill-building through group and community activities.
  • Work closely with a team to ensure consistent, high-quality care and support.
  • Follow program guidelines, safety protocols, and participate in trainings and team meetings.
